Auckland, 14th September 2015: Serko Ltd (SKO.NZ) – Australasia’s leader in online travel booking and expense management for business announced the release of new Serko Online functionality designed to tackle the issue of hotel leakage using newly integrated content feeds from Expedia, Wotif and Booking.com.
As much as 50% of hotel bookings ‘leak’ at time of booking (i.e. users book their flights but for whatever reason don’t book a hotel), which is a serious problem for corporates because it means corporates have to deal with unmanaged travel and Duty of Care compliance issues.
The new functionality stops users that need a hotel from completing their booking without providing a detailed reason. It also invites users trying to complete a booking without a hotel, to return to the booking workflow and search the inventory provided by Expedia, Booking.com and Wotif. This is significant as research (from Expedia) shows that:

They believe that they can get a better deal, or a better hotel (that’s not offered by the GDS) through their preferred leisure brand.
